News: Live Shows From Frank Skinner

Frank Skinner has announced another run of off-the-cuff shows at the Soho Theatre.

He will be performing for 11 nights from January 3. 

The Black Country comic will be appearing without actually having any prepared material. Instead he will be walking onstage and seeing what pops into his head, hence the title The Man With No Show.

News: New Crystal Maze Cast Pictured On Set

Filming has now started on the special celebrity edition of The Crystal Maze being made for C4's Stand Up To Cancer season.

New host Stephen Merchant is pictured here on the set with contestants Josh Widdicombe, Rio Ferdinand, Michelle Keegan, Jonnie Peacock and Sara Cox. His shaved head might look like a homage to previous host Richard O'Brien, but he actually shaved it for his forthcoming role in Wolverine 3.

News: Full Series For Porridge, Motherland & A Brief History of Tim

Following one-offs as part of this summer’s BBC Landmark Sitcom Season, the BBC has announced that it has commissioned three series - Motherland, Porridge and A Brief History of Tim.

Controller of Comedy Commissioning Shane Allen says: “The Landmark Sitcom Season was a big, celebratory moment for BBC comedy and signalled our unrivalled commitment to the art form.

News: Ross Noble's Directorial Debut to Be Screened At Frightfest

Comedian Ross Noble's first film as a director is to be screened in October in London.

The screening of The Catchment will take place at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square on October 22 as part of Frightfest's 780-minute screening of horror films sponsored by the Horror Channel. Noble, who also stars in the film, will be present.

News: TV Spin-Off For What We Do In The Shadows

A television channel in New Zealand has commissioned a spin-off of the hit vampire comedy movie What We Do In The Shadows.

Paranormal Event Response Unit is conceived by the team behind the film, Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, and will air on TVNZ 2.

The TV version will focus on police officers Karen and Mike, whose job is to protect people from supernatural phenomena.

News: Tim Key To Appear In Old Vic Production Of Art

Tim Key is to appear in the upcoming 20th anniversary revival of Yasmina Reza's play Art at the Old Vic.

Key will star alongside Paul Ritter from Friday Night Dinner and Rufus Sewell as the three friends who clash over their attitude to modern art.

When the play was first staged in London a number of major comedians appeared in it, including Jack Dee and the cast of the League of Gentlemen. Key previously appeared at the Old Vic alongside Daniel Kitson in Kitson's piece Tree. 

News: Comedian Raises £20,000 For Charity With Tour

Comedian Damian Kingsley has raised over £20,000 for Shelter and Shelter Scotland following his "penniless" tour from Land's End to Edinburgh in which all the proceeds went to charity. He is now writing a book about his experience.

Live Review: Barry Crimmins, Leicester Square Theatre, WC2

I have to confess that outspoken American satirist Barry Crimmins is a new name to me, but he has a pretty impressive CV. He was a key figure in the Boston comedy movement in the eighties and more recently has become known for his campaigns against online child pornography - Crimmins was raped as a child. If you want more background fellow comic Bobcat Goldthwait made the documentary about him entitled Call Me Lucky.
