News: Spoof Poster Claims Small Comic Is Big Arena Star

Comedian Nathan Cassidy has come up with one of the best publicity stunts so far at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

A fake poster has appeared in the pedestrian underpass by the major Pleasance Dome venue advertising Cassidy’s fictional 2017 tour, The Man In The Arena. According to the poster all the dates are already sold out except for one night at the O2 Arena in London on November 4.

News: Josh Widdicombe Quits Fighting Talk

Josh Widdicombe and his co-presenter Georgie Ainslie are both leaving the Radio 5 sports show Fighting Talk.

After two seasons at the helm of the award winning Saturday morning quiz Widdicombe and Ainslie are both standing down due to their increasingly busy schedules.

Edinburgh Fringe Review: Lou Sanders, Pleasance Dome

Lou Sanders has most definitely got something. She is one of the quirkiest comics on the circuit with a distinctive style all of her own. It would come as no surprise if I am not the first person to call her Loopy Lou.

Edinburgh Fringe Review: Tony Cowards, Just The Tonic at The Mash House

The rise of the pun comedian has been one of the interesting developments in stand-up in recent years. Tim Vine no longer has the field to himself, there is even a UK Pun Championship to find the country’s best wordplay wizard.

But they all - even Vine - suffer from the same issue. How do you turn an art form that is best suited to lollipop sticks and Twitter into a one hour show? Even Tim Vine warns his audience five minutes in that there is another 55 minutes of the same thing coming up.

Edinburgh Fringe Review: Michelle Wolf, Pleasance Courtyard

American comedian Michelle Wolf is clearly a rising star. She has recently become a correspondent on The Daily Show and her Edinburgh Fringe debut marks her out as very talented both as a writer and a performer.

News: Edinburgh Comedy Awards Boss Appeals for More Support for New Comedy

Edinburgh Comedy Awards director Nica Burns has appealed to broadcasters and newspapers to support new comedy.

Interview: Rarely Asked Questions – Kiri Pritchard-McLean

This is Kiri Pritchard-McLean's debut hour, but she is no Fringe newbie. She is a non-performing writer/director for acclaimed sketch group Geins' Family Gift Shop and knows comedy inside out. In Hysterical Woman the Chortle Award-nominated comedian tackles genetics, gender, race and being a comedian who happens to be a woman. She is a smart cookie with a warped streak and plenty of opinions. And a very funny smart cookie too.

Interview: Rarely Asked Questions – Brennan Reece

Brennan Reece is definitely going places. He won the English Comedian of the Year award in 2015 beating stand-ups old enough to be his parents and since then has performed in Australia and supported Joe Lycett on tour. He is a veritable livewire onstage, chatting about his family, his life, football and finding the funny side everywhere.

Find out more about him and if he is coming to your town here.

News: Vic & Bob Both Lined Up For Celebrity Storage Hunters

Update: Transmission date confirmed - series starts on Oct 18 at 8pm. Vic and Bob appear in the episode on November 1.

Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer are uniting for the new series of Celebrity Storage Hunters. Bob has appeared in the programme before and will now be joined by his double act partner. Their Shooting Stars co-stars Ulrika Jonsson and Johnny Vegas will also be appearing.

Interview: Rarely Asked Questions – Adam Hess

I laughed like a loon at Adam Hess' Fringe show last summer. The gags flew around the room at such a fast and furious pace that I was still chuckling at one punchline when the next one hit me. He more than deserved his Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer nomination. As well as the wordplay and one-liners there is a playful, childlike streak to Hess. He felt a bit like a boy trapped in a man’s body. His new show is called Feathers.
