The Ricky Gervais Netflix series After Life, Derry Girls, Catastrophe are among those on the shortlist for Edinburgh TV Awards. The winners will be announced at an event on  on Thursday 22nd August hosted by stand-up comedian Mo Gilligan, who is nominated for a Breakthrough Talent award himself.


News: More Intimate Dates For Next Ricky Gervais Show

Ricky Gervais is planning to do more low-key shows before the world tour of his next live show SuperNature.

Gervais tweeted that the bulk of the international arena dates will be in 2020 as he will be filming and editing the second series of After Life this autumn and winter, but he will be doing some smaller UK dates in late May and June.

The six-part series started streaming globally on March 8 and Gervais has tweeted that he is getting so many tweets from people saying that they love it that he has not been able to reply to all of them.

What is the new six-part Netflix series from Ricky Gervais? After Life is certainly funny but it is no sitcom. There is too much going on here that isn't funny to file it snugly under that genre. It's not that safety net catch-all "comedy drama" either though. It's something totally unique. It deserves a category of its own.

Ricky Gervais has announced more work-in-progress gigs to road-test material for his next live show SuperNature.

They are at the Bloomsbury Theatre, which is part of University College London, where Gervais studied Philosophy. The shows will take place on December 2 & 3. 

SuperNature "looks at the absurdity of superstition, magic and all unsubstantiated beliefs, and celebrates the conclusion that Nature is already Super enough. What's the most incredible fact you know?"
