News: Ricky Gervais Raises £160k For Charity With 'Beat The Touts' Tickets

In an effort to take action against ticket touts, Ricky Gervais allocated a limited number of Platinum Tickets across his worldwide Humanity tour. From the sales of these Platinum Tickets, nearly £160k has been raised across the UK and Europe for good causes to date, with the RSPCA and Macmillan Cancer Support in the UK receiving in excess of £65k each.

Ricky Gervais has announced the first American, Canadian and European dates for Humanity, his first worldwide stand-up tour in seven years. 

2017 marks the comedian’s return to stand-up on an international stage, with shows in New York, LA and Chicago, as well as new dates announced in Europe, playing Reykjavik, Dublin, Stockholm, Amsterdam and Copenhagen this year. 


News: New Research Reveals Comedians' Comedy Favourites

Fawlty Towers has been voted the British comedy industry's favourite sitcom.  

In a new survey over 100 comedians, including David Baddiel, Jenny Eclair, Reece Shearsmith, Zoe Lyons, James Acaster and Alexei Sayle, were asked to nominate their favourite actors, sitcoms, characters, scenes and one-liners.

Lest we forget, George Michael had an excellent sense of humour. After his arrest in an LA toilet he shot the video for Outside in which a toilet turned into a glitzy disco. But the comedy appearance that springs most immediately to mind was in Extras when he brilliantly sent himself up as a dope-smoking kebab eating cruiser on Hampstead Heath. On hearing the news of George's death Ricky Gervais simply tweeted "Unbelievable.  RIP George Michael." and Stephen Merchant tweeted "RIP George Michael.

News: Oh The Humanity – Ricky Gervais Tour Dates Announced

Tickets for the new Ricky Gervais World Tour go on sale at 10am on Friday, December 2.

The show is entitled Humanity. He describes it on his blog as "me moaning about everything in the world from the most privileged position imaginable."

There are currently dates starting in Bristol on February 21 and ending in Belfast on March 29. More dates are expected to be added.


News: Ricky Gervais AKA David Brent to Appear on Children In Need

Ricky Gervais will perform the title track from the film David Brent: Life On The Road on this year's Children In Need.

Paul Wright, Executive Producer of BBC Children in Need Appeal Show, says: “The Children in Need Appeal Show is over the moon to welcome mega star David Brent to sing his heart out and help raise money for disadvantaged children throughout the UK.”

News: Live Gigs For David Brent

David Brent, alias Ricky Gervais, is to play two major gigs with his band Foregone Conclusion.

Ricky Gervais made the announcement on Twitter today. The shows will be at the Eventim Apollo on September 8 & 9.

The gigs will follow the release of David Brent: Life on the Road, the movie in which David Brent takes time off from his job as a toilet products salesman to pursue his rock and roll dream with a UK tour. The film is releasd on August 19. Brent/Gervais will also be releasing a soundtrack album. 

Film Review: Special Correspondents, Netflix

It says Film Review above so it must be a film. There is something not quite right about watching Special Correspondents on a laptop (in bed, if you want to know). Ricky Gervais chose to go with Netflix rather than a cinema release but I’m not sure if it is the right decision. Having said that, Special Correspondents is a great TV movie.


News: Ricky Gervais Talks About David Brent & David Bowie

Ricky Gervais has talked about exchanging emails with David Bowie shortly before his death. Despite regular communication Bowie did not reveal how ill he was. "He must have known. He kept it from everyone," said Gervais.

Gervais was talking to Colin Paterson on Radio 5 to promote his new Netflix movie, Special Correspondents.

At the start of the year Gervais emailed David Bowie to say he loved his new album and Bowie sent back a funny email.
