News: Louis CK Plays Comedy Club Gig In London

American comedy superstar Louis CK played a low-key club gig in London on Sunday night.

He popped into the Angel Comedy club/pub in Islington and reports say that after chatting to some of the acts on the bill did a 15-minute set at the end of the night. Needless to say he was phenomenal, according to a witness.

TV Preview: Louie, Fox

He might be one of Ricky Gervais’ favourite comedians but please don’t hold that against Louis CK. The sour-faced comedian returns to the UK screens this week for the fifth series of his sitcom Louie – notice the different spelling, it can’t possibly be autobiographical. Can it?

Advance publicity for this series suggested that it might be less dark more “jokecentric”, and there are certainly plenty of laugh-out-loud moments here, from the Comedy Cellar stand-up club opening routine to the closing shouting match pay-off.

TV Review: Louie, Fox

Chuffed to see that Louie is back on the television in the UK. And even more chuffed to see that it starts with a truly great triple whammy - three episodes linked together like a comedy human centipede to make The Late Show Trilogy.

Preview: The Week Ahead June 10 - 16

Bloody Americans, coming over here and entertaining our comedy fans…  Last week Judah Friedlander made his London debut and was a bit of a disappointment. There should be no such problems with Aziz Ansari, who comes to the Hammersmith Apollo this Saturday.

Review: Louis CK, Hammersmith Apollo

Well, he came, he saw, he played the wrong venue, didn't do much in the way of advance press, but he conquered. After all the fuss about Louis CK jumping from the Bloomsbury Theatre on his last UK visit to the Hammersmith Apollo and the O2 Arena, the reviews gave him a unanimous thumbs up.

Classic Interview: Louis CK

Louis CK plays the O2 Arena on March 20 and two shows at the Hammersmith Apollo on March 21. You can buy tickets here. That is a hell of a jump from 2008 when I interviewed him for The Times. Back then he was coming over to do some shows at the 160-seater Soho Theatre. So what went right? Well, he has a hit TV show, Louie, currently airing on Fox.
