Ben Elton's Upstart Crow To Return To The Stage

The Upstart Crow opened at the Gielgud Theatre in February 2020 to an array of glowing reviews and sold out performances. The Daily Telegraph described the show as “just the hey nonny-nonny nonsense the doctor ordered with much to crow about." Then Covid hit and theatres were forced to close for the first lockdown.

Why David Mitchell Said No To Taskmaster

David Mitchell says that he has turned down appearing on Taskmaster.

Mitchell's wife Victoria Coren Mitchell made a splash in the series on C4 but in an interview with Richard Herring for Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast Mitchell explained that he had turned down the opportunity to take part in the award-winning programme.

Herring pointed out that Mitchell's name comes up a lot when people are asked who they would like to see on Taskmaster.

TV: Back, Series Two, C4

Now this is more like it. At the risk of sounding like a fogeyish version of the David Mitchell character in Peep Show/real life this is a proper good old grown up comedy. Not really a sitcom at all though judging by the first episode of the second series, but hang around, there is definitely humour to be sniffed out here.

Video: Mitchell And Webb - Remain Indoors

I've been working on a feature about upcoming things you can watch at home that will make you smile. I didn't have room to include this. I know that great comedy is all about truth but maybe this is a bit too close to the bone at the moment. It'll certainly make you laugh - whether it'll take your mind off things is another matter. I guess this is what you call relatable comedy.
