Titter Feed: An Occasional Fix Of Gossip & News

Never mind Bros asking “when will I be famous?” Jason Manford was pretty sure he would be famous two decades ago. Manford has posted on Facebook a picture of a note that he sent as a teenager to a classmate that he had a crush on back in November 1996. It says: “To Carly, luv Jason M…I will be famous one day soon so don’t lose this!” She didn't – she recently contacted him and showed him it.

At one point during Ross Noble’s gig he pointed out something important: “I am contractually obliged to follow an idea as far as it will go.” Suddenly everything made sense. Noble’s brain is simply hardwired to channel maximum lunacy.

Interview: Ross Noble

A favourite at the Edinburgh Fringe and a vigilant stand-up gigger, Ross Noble has previously admitted to planning entire shows around "about four words on a scrap of paper." It's hardly surprising then, that his foray into television takes a similarly unstructured form. He merges the conventions of spontaneous comedy with the massive network for randomness that social media has to offer. Noble's broadcasting brainchild is Freewheeling; "It's a show that doesn't have a format, we make it up as we go along," he explains.

Ross Noble is all set to have a busy 2015. In May he joins the cast of the touring production of The Producers, playing pigeon-fancying Franz Liebkind. When this was announced I asked Noble if he was going to have to get his hair cut. Luckily, he pointed out, Liebkind wears a helmet. He also happens to ride a motorbike, which is another thing that appealed to Noble about the part. Jason Manford and Phill Jupitus are also in the cast, so it ought to be a laugh a minute offstage as well as on.
