News: Greg Davies Finds His Safe Space

Greg Davies is the co-writer of a new comedy for Sky One and NOW TV.

In Safe Space the famously tall Taskmaster host plays a demotivated small-time psychotherapist heading nowhere fast until fate intervenes in the form of a new client; his rising star local MP. A dark web of revelations leads to a serious breach of client confidentially in this tale of control, power and how idiotic it makes us.

Safe Space is co-written by Greg Davies & Stephen Morrison.

Davies is a lifelong fan of Barry Hines' classic novel A Kestrel for a Knave, the story of Billy Casper training a kestrel as an escape from his troubled home and school life, which was famously made into the film Kes by Ken Loach.

Interview: Greg Davies On The New Series Of Taskmaster

How would you describe this series?

It’s a really great series. I think the tasks are as fresh as ever, and I think it’s funny. Sometimes the teams just gel. I won’t highlight which series, but we’ve had a couple where the gang has just made sense together. This one is just a wonderful mix of people and personalities that complement each other. It’s a delicate balance between being competitive but recognising the ‘gang show’ nature of this show.

Review: Greg Davies, You Magnificent Beast, Netflix

Greg Davies really is a big star. And not only because he is 6ft 8ins. His You Magnificent Beast tour included four nights at the 4000-seater Apollo in London (where this was recorded), his C4 sitcom Man Down is a hit and his game show Taskmaster just keeps going from strength to strength. A new series starts in May on Dave.

News: Greg Davies And Monty Python Come To Netflix

Greg Davies' latest stand-up show, You Magnificent Beast, is the be streamed on Netflix from April 10.

The film of the show was recorded during his UK tour last year. During his set the former teacher revealed that his mother had asked him to stop talking about her onstage. Although this doesn't stop him from talking about her onstage.

Opinion: Should Comedians Change Their Act For Different Times?

If you’d had a medical examination that you felt was more intimate than it needed to be what would you do? Go to the General Medical Council? Go to the police? In the case of Greg Davies he turned it into one of the routines in his latest live show, You Magnificent Beast.

TV: Man Down, C4

Greg Davies returns for a fourth series of Man Down and I sense a bit of a theme emerging. He has previously had a run-in with a turkey and in the first episode of the new run of this tragic, anarchic sitcom he has an oversized chicken thrown at him. But that is just a small indignity compared to some of his other issues in this opening instalment.

News: Date Revealed For Man Down's Return To C4

Greg Davies is set to return with his critically acclaimed sitcom Man Down for a fourth series.
