Never mind Bros asking “when will I be famous?” Jason Manford was pretty sure he would be famous two decades ago. Manford has posted on Facebook a picture of a note that he sent as a teenager to a classmate that he had a crush on back in November 1996. It says: “To Carly, luv Jason M…I will be famous one day soon so don’t lose this!” She didn't – she recently contacted him and showed him it.

I’m not saying Micky Flanagan is reluctant to spend a lot of time having his picture taken, but I happen to live near him in south London and one of the pictures taken to promote his forthcoming tour was clearly taken at a table near the window of his (and my) local pub. How kind of him to manage to find a spare five minutes before going back to his quiet pint…

The Glasgow International Comedy Festival has announced the headline names for its 2017 Festival. They include plenty of Scots including Fred MacAulay, Des Clarke, Janey Godley, Fern Brady, Gary Little, Craig Hill, Mark Nelson and Richard Gadd. Also confirmed are Jimmy Carr, Al Murray, Stewart Lee, Russell Howard, Henning Wehn, Bridget Christie, Reg D Hunter, Sue Perkins and David O’Doherty. The festival runs from March 9 - 19. The full programme will be launched at The Stand Comedy Club in Glasgow on Thursday 12 January 2017. More details here.  

Ross Noble says that following Brexit he would like to move back to Australia. The trouble is that he can’t sell his house in Kent. And even if he could the exchange rate now means he would hardly be left with any money.

Comedian Dave Johns has been nominated for Best Actor in the Evening Standard British Film Awards for his performance in I, Daniel Blake.
