Bridget Christie

News: Bridget Christie, Josie Long & Count Arthur Radio Comedies

BBC Radio has unveiled its Christmas comedy specials and Bridget Christie is one of the major highlights.

The award-winning comedian* will be fronting Bridget Christie’s Christmas List in which she enlists Father Christmas to bring about a feminist Christmas for 2015, "whether he wants to or not." Guests include Miles Jupp, Robin Ince, Jon Culshaw and Leo Wan. The one-off will go out on R4 on Christmas Eve at 6.15pm.

Book Review: A Book for Her by Bridget Christie

Here’s a trade secret about book reviewers. I don’t think they always read every sentence of every book they write about. I wanted to make a point of reading Bridget Christie’s first book from intro to outro just in case she had mentioned me. I'd look like a clown if she did and I didn't mention this in my review. There was, infuriatingly, no index to do a quick sneaky check*.

Edinburgh Preview: Bridget Christie

Today’s Edinburgh preview is a bit of a no-brainer. Bridget Christie has become a must-see Fringe attraction in the last two years. She won the Foster’s Comedy Award in 2013 with A Bic For Her and followed it up last year with the equally acclaimed An Ungrateful Woman. Unfortunately you can’t win the Edinburgh Comedy Award more than once. Christie has come a long way from the first time I saw her at the Holyrood Tavern when I only went to her show because free cheese rolls were promised.

Live Review: Battersea Arts Centre Phoenix Fundraiser, RFH

The fire at Battersea Arts Centre on Friday, March 13 may have been devastating, but you can rely on comedians to find the funny side. Last night’s sold out benefit at the Royal Festival Hall kicked off with Stewart Lee, who came on to a live rendition of Burning Down The House played by Kneehigh Theatre’s band.
