News: Bad Education Movie Goes Into Production

Jack Whitehall has confirmed that the movie version of his hit BBC3 sitcom Bad Education is going itno production. At lunchtime today Whitehall tweeted "Very excited to announce that we are making a Bad Education Movie. and the gang are hitting Cornwall!".

The announcement was accompanied by the picture here showing the original cast sunning themselves in wintry Cornwall, where the film is going to be set.

News: Funz & Gamez To Get A TV Try-Out

Funz and Gamez is to be made into a TV pilot. The show, which won the Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Award Panel Prize last summer, was a huge word-of-mouth hit in Edinburgh and recently completed a run at the Soho Theatre in London. It returns to London this summer for performances at the Udderbelly Festival.

Review: BBC iPlayer Funny Valentines – Katy Wix: Dear Jean-Pierre

Katy Wix’s romantic short film is a tear-stained Dear John letter, or rather a Dear Jean-Pierre letter, as her ex-lover she is breaking the news to is a French man who doesn’t speak any English. In fact in the film he doesn’t speak at all. The story is told through flashbacks recreating Wix’s memories as she recalls them and writes them down.

Review: The Play That Goes Wrong, Duchess Theatre

The Play That Goes Wrong is the kind of theatrical fairy story that producers dream about. What started off as a modest fringe production in a pub has grown and grown and is now a bona fide West End hit in a proper theatre. This farcical tale of onstage calamity during a production of a provincial murder mystery transferred to the Duchess last autumn and is still booking well ahead so I thought I’d better play catch-up.

TV Review: Count Arthur Strong, BBC1

Last week when the end of the year round-ups were being bandied around Reece Shearsmith bemoaned the fact that Inside No 9 was being forgotten because it went out way back at the start of the year. Will Steve Delaney, the creator of glorious comedy dimwit and ham actor Count Arthur Strong, be similarly bypassed at the end of 2015? I sincerely hope not.

Opinion: Can Dapper Laughs Come Back?

As comedy goes it could not have been more meta if Stewart Lee had made a cameo appearance. Just when we thought we’d seen the last of him Dapper Laughs released a new video on YouTube on Christmas Day in which he returned to earth from a buxom wench-filled heaven and put his creator, Daniel O’Reilly in his place for attempting to kill him off by donning an existentialist’s black polo neck and appearing on Newsnight.

News: Midlands Comedy Awards Nominations Announced

The nominations have been announced for the inaugural Midlands Comedy Awards. Every major comedy promoter in the Midlands was asked to nominate their favourite comedians and comedy clubs in seven categories for the awards, which are organised by comedian Jay Islaam and Pod Comedy. Islaam received responses from 25 different promoters of live comedy and their opinions have decided the shortlist for 2014.

News: Noel Fielding Tour Dates Rescheduled

News is coming through that all of the dates on the additional 2015 UK Spring leg of Noel Fielding's current solo tour are to be rescheduled. The dates were added due to the success of the initial dates in 2014, but will now be rearranged for later in the year. The tour will now run from November 12 to December 13.
