TV: Island of Dreams, BBC2

Writers Bert Tyler-Moore and George Jeffrie have previous when it comes to protraying the lifestyles of the rich and brainless. They wrote The Windsors for C4 and now turn their satirical and absurdist attention to some slightly lesser celebrities for this BBC pilot set on Richard Branson's sunny, swanky Necker Island with Harry Enfield playing Sir Dickie B in some scarily tight budgie smugglers and looking like a lost Bee Gee.

Rob Brydon, Dara Ó Briain, Harry Enfield, Greg Davies, Omid Djalili, Rachel Parris and Angus Deayton lead a glittering line-up of comics performing at 100 Hearts, a Night of Comedy at the prestigious London theatre on Wednesday 13 February 2019. Tickets are on sale from Thursday 1 November.

Other confirmed stars include James Acaster, Jess Robinson, Sindhu Vee, Michael Fenton Stevens, Helen Atkinson Wood, Ahir Shah and Ken Cheng. 

News: Harry Enfield To Play Multiple Roles Onstage

Harry Enfield is to appear onstage at the Hampstead Theatre playing five roles, including a doctor, a woman, God and Karl Marx in a new play, Genesis Inc by Jemma Kennedy.

It is not the first time Enfield has appeared onstage. He made his theatre debut in 2016’s Once in a Lifetime at the Young Vic. He also famously played an actor in the classic C4 spoof documentary, Norbert Smith – A Life.

Ben Elton’s eloquent defence of the mainstream sitcom last month was illuminating, fascinating and persuasive. And in a way maybe it could be seen by some as an incidental pre-emptive strike against critics who might have their hatchets sharpened for the new series of Upstart Crow, Elton’s popular sitcom about Shakespeare’s early years starring David Mitchell.

TV Review: Walliams & Friend with Harry Enfield, BBC1

After last week’s edition in which David Walliams teamed up with youngish turk Jack Whitehall this week he teams up with oldish master Harry Enfield. And not surprisingly, given Enfield’s sketch comedy pedigree the result is very good indeed and at some points positively brilliant.

Sir Lenny Henry, Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse are among the comedians appearing at a one-off benefit gig to raise money to fight knife crime. The show, organised by educational organisation The Comedy School, takes place at the Eventim Apollo on October 11.

Now this was an odd programme. There’s having your cake and eating it and then there is this. A tribute hosted by the tributees that put the boot into the tributees at the same time, while finally concluding that they are almost godlike.

Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse have confirmed dates for a tour later this year. The Legends! tour starts at the Plymouth Pavilions on October 24 and ends at the Eventim Apollo in London on November 15, and now also just added, November 16.
