Comedian Carl Donnelly is looking for people to stand-in for his podcast partner Chris Martin.
Donnelly and Martin regularly record the Carl Donnelly and Chris Martin Podcast, which was included in the Guardian’s ‘top 10 comedy list’ and has over 50,000 followers. But next year when Donnelly is touring the UK with his latest show Bad Man Tings Martin will be in Los Angeles, so they will be unable to meet up to record together.
The David Nobbs Memorial Trust, established after the death of the Reggie Perrin author, has launched its first annual comedy writing competition. The first prize of £500 as well as any runner-up prizes will be awarded after judges turn their critical eye on entries, which can be submitted from January 1 until January 15.
The line-up has been confirmed for the NATYS Top of the Bill Showcase in January.

Andrew Sachs, the actor who will always be known as Manuel from Fawlty Towers, has died. He was 86.
Reports say that he had been suffering from dementia and died in a care home.
Sachs had a long career and in recent years had appeared in Coronation Street and Casualty. In 2008 he became embroiled in the scandal that became known as Sachsgate when Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross left a rude message on his answerphone.

Comedian Olaf Falafel has signed a three-book deal with HarperCollins Children’s Books. The former art director will both write and illustrate the books.
Olaf put out a call for a publisher for his picture book on Twitter on November 22nd, igniting a frenzy of interest from publishers and agents alike. Within 24 hours, Alice Blacker, Picture Books Publishing Director at HarperCollins Children’s Books had secured the deal from Jo Unwin at JULA Ltd.
