Katherine Ryan

Latitude Review: Katherine Ryan

After a short, snappy appearance from Shazia Mirza – “I won’t stay long, I’m being deported in 20 minutes” – Katherine Ryan came on sporting a flowery headdress and some attitude for Latitude. Her boyfriend recently dumped her by text, she explained, tossing in the first of many Pokemon Go references I expect I’ll be hearing over the next few months.

TV Review: Jack Dee's Referendum Helpdesk, BBC2

Nobody seems to have told the person that did the opening credits for this comedy version of Question Time that it is about the EU. Instead subject titles such as “relationships” and “money” rolled past as if our host, serial cynic Jack Dee, was any old agony aunt.

News: Major Tour Extension From Katherine Ryan

Katherine Ryan has added even more dates to her 2016 Kathbum tour due to phenomenal demand. These new dates start from April 14 at the Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre in Newcastle and end on May 21 at the Eventim Apollo in London. Tickets for the extra dates go on sale at 10am on Friday January 22 here.

Edinburgh Preview: Katherine Ryan

I think Katherine Ryan is going to have to do a new photo shoot quicker than planned. The wonderfully elegant shots by Idil Sukan are adoring front pages of magazines and Edinburgh has not even started. Ryan is clearly on a roll, having already added extra dates to her Fringe run. Which I guess proves this. TV exposure is great for ticket sales, but only if people find you funny.

TV Review: Frankie Boyle's Election Autopsy, BBC iPlayer

So just when you thought every last comic pip had been squeezed out of the election here comes Frankie Boyle. The too-hot-for-mainstream-TV Scot is joined by the so-hot-they-are-on-everything twosome of Sara Pascoe and Katherine Ryan for this iPlayer discussion following the success of their previous online outing, Referendum Autopsy.

Preview: This Comedian – Live, Duchess Theatre

I wrote recently about how sometimes it can be a frustrating for people who see a lot of comedy to hear the same comedians – however brilliant – do the same material every time you see them. This Monday’s all-star, must-see gig at the Duchess Theatre seems to have come up with the answer.
