TV Preview: Josh, BBC3

A flatshare sitcom about two dysfunctional blokes who seem incapable of growing up? Peep Show? No, we are talking about Josh, which by one of those quirks of scheduling starts its first series on BBC3 next Wednesday just as the first episode of the final series of Peep Show ends on C4. But flip channels and stick around, if you like one the chances are you will like the other.

TV Review: Taskmaster, Dave

I don’t think Taskmaster is the first Edinburgh Fringe show to turn into a TV panel game but I’m pretty sure it is the first Edinburgh Fringe show that I’ve taken part in that ended up as a panel game. A few years ago Alex Horne invited me to join the team. At that time the show lasted an entire year - each month we were given a different task and only found out how we’d done when the results were revealed onstage in Edinburgh. Needless to say, I lost.

The Last Leg is due to return for a sixth series this summer. Following on from three election specials earlier this year, the new series, fronted by Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker, will start on Friday, June 26 at 10pm on C4. There will be eleven episodes.

As ever, each week Adam, Josh and Alex will be joined by a live studio audience and a weekly special celebrity guest. In the first show Stephen Merchant will be joining them live in the studio.

Preview: Josh, BBC iPlayer

Can you ever reinvent the flatshare sitcom? Or to be more precise, can you reinvent it in 16 minutes? Or to be even more precise, can you reinvent the flatshare sitcom in 16 minutes in a BBC pilot that isn’t actually being broadcast on the TV, going out, initially at least, only online? Well that’s kind of what Josh Widdicombe attempts to do in his new one-off for the Comedy Feeds strand, entitled Josh.

Edinburgh Fringe Preview: Josh Widdicombe

Today’s pick of the previews is so obviously essential viewing I hardly need to write any more. Josh Widdicombe and Romesh Ranganathan are running out their latest material – though in Widdcombe’s case he isn't doing a full Edinburgh run, but broadcasting his XFM live show from the Fringe. We’ve written about Ranganathan before so let’s focus on Widdicombe here. Since coming to prominence with The Last Leg has become a TV panel game regular. A small cavil though. If possible too regular.
