Irish comedian Al Porter has issued a statement today via his Facebook page.

He wrote the following:

"Today the DPP has directed to drop their case against me.

I would like to thank my family, friends and solicitors, Michael Staines and Aoife Corridan, for their support.

For two long and very anxious years I have co-operated fully and respected the legal process.


News: Al Porter Confirms Suicide Story Is A Hoax

Irish comedian Al Porter has confirmed that a story (see below) that has been circulating in WhatsApp groups that he has commited suicide is a cruel hoax and not a genuine report. It has not actually appeared on the Mirror website and is nothing to do with the Mirror.*

Posting on Facebook Porter wrote: "So, this has been sent to family and friends of mine today.


News: Al Porter No Longer In Panto

Irish comedian Al Porter will not be appearing in panto this Christmas.

As was hinted at in his statement yesterday, he will no longer be starring in Polly & The Beanstalk at the Olympia Theatre. A statement on the theatre's website reads:

"Due to recent developments, Al Porter is standing aside from his role in this year’s Pantomime Polly and the Beanstalk at the Olympia Theatre.

A replacement star will be announced shortly.

Al Porter has issued a statement via social media regarding the recent allegations about him.

He says: "I have been completely taken aback by reports in the media and on the social networks over the weekend, and by the scale and tone of the vitriol. While my conduct, which had been in keeping with my flamboyant and outrageous public persona may be regarded as offensive and unacceptable by many people, I at no time intended to upset anyone.

Irish comedian Al Porter is to take a break from hosting his lunchtime radio show for broadcaster Today FM.

The station has issued a statement this evening, saying: “In light of recent events, Today FM and Al Porter have agreed that Al will take some personal time from his lunchtime radio show. No further comment will be made by Today FM at this time.”

Comedian Al Porter is facing allegations of sexual misconduct.

According to reports in the Irish edition of the Times four male performers have made allegations. The claims relate to groping or putting his hand down their trousers. He stopped when they reprimanded him.
