Interview

Interview: Rarely Asked Questions – Jonny Woo

  • What is the last thing you do before you go onstage (apart from check your flies and/or check your knickers aren't sticking out of your skirt and check for spinach between your teeth)?

I generally pace up and down for the entire time I’m in the dressing room then I say a prayer to help get over nerves. It’s the step three prayer from AA and is something among the lines or ‘Release me from the bondage of self, so I may better do thy will’.

Video: Joz Norris & Lucy Pearman in The Baby

Watch this short film entitled The Baby written, conceived by and starring comedians Joz Norris & Lucy Pearman.

A tiny new-born child makes demands on a mysterious woman in this black and white comic chiller which we think has a hint of David Lynch's Eraserhead about it.

The cast also features Eleanor Morton and Will Seaward.

It was directed & edited by Sam Nicoresti and lights & sound were by Lottie Bowater.

Interview: Karl Pilkington On New Comedy Sick Of It

Karl Pilkington is back on Sky One, this time with his first scripted comedy drama: a six-part Sky original production co-written with Richard Yee. Karl plays Karl, a crotchety cabbie who’s living with his auntie while trying to get over the loss of his long-term girlfriend. His closest mate is his alter ego, an uncensored version of himself who appears only to him and can say exactly what he thinks, without the risk of offending anyone.

Interview: Rarely Asked Questions – Andy Kindler

American stand-up Andy Kindler has not appeared in the UK for a decade, but he has not been idle. He has been seen/heard on Bob’s Burgers, Portlandia, Lady Dynamite, The Late Show with David Letterman (as a frequent correspondent) and Comedy Bang! Bang! But perhaps he is best known in comedy circles for his annual State of the Industry Address at the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival where he has been known to be bitingly critical of other comics.

Interview: Phil Wang On The New Series Of Taskmaster

Did you enjoy taking part in Taskmaster?

I enjoyed parts of it. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed a lot of tasks. Driving to that house every day felt a bit like going to an exam you hadn’t prepared for, but it turns out to be a fun exam. Like a maths exam. But also, it’s forced me to reconsider elements of myself that I hadn’t really counted on taking back into consideration.

Like what?
