Sally Phillips is to host a new series on Gold looking back at classic comedy skits. Each week in the six-part series My Favourite Sketch Phillips will invite a comedy star to discuss sketches from comedy history. The full guest line up for the first series is Jessica Hynes, Jason Manford, Bob Mortimer, Sue Perkins, Johnny Vegas, and Paul Whitehouse.

News: Filming Starts On Coming Of Age Comedy With Rob Brydon, Sally Phillips

Principal photography has started on filmmaker Gurinder Chadha's new comedy drama, Blinded By The Light. The film is a hybrid musical that is firmly rooted in the great British tradition of quirky comedies, but with a dash of youthful exuberance inspired by John Hughes’ films from the 1980s.

Now in its twelfth series, The Museum of Curiosity is a Rose d’Or award winning comedy panel show hosted by the Professor of Ignorance at Southampton Solent University, John Lloyd (QI, Blackadder, Spitting Image) with a different comedian joining him each series as the Museum’s curator.

News: Contestants Announced For Taskmaster Series 5

The five contestants have been announced for the fifth series of Taskmaster.

They are Nish Kumar, Sally Phillips, Bob Mortimer, Aisling Bea and Mark Watson. 

Meanwhile Noel Fielding has been crowned champion of Taskmaster Series 4, due in part to thwacking a Babybel a remarkable distance with a snooker cue.

The fifth series will air later this year on Dave, overseen as ever by Greg Davies and Alex Horne.

Miranda's Sally Phillips is one of the stars of a new comedy coming to Gold alongside Downton Abbey's Charles Edwards. Henry IX is a three-part, single camera sitcom set in the fictitious, contemporary court of Henry IX, King of the United Kingdom. The script is by the creators of Porridge, Dick Clement & Ian La Frenais. Filming starts today.
