Second Series for Alma's Not Normal

Following the multiple award-winning first series, which was met with huge critical and audience acclaim, Alma’s Not Normal is set to return to BBC Two for a second series, it was announced today.

Sean Lock, Stephen Merchant, Mo Gilligan, Graham Norton, Sophie Willan, Aisling Bea and Joe Lycett are among the nominees for Bafta TV awards this year.

The nominations have been announced today. Sean Lock is nominated for Best Entertainment Performance for 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Joe Lycett is in the same category for Joe Lycett's Got Your Back and Mo Gilligan is nominated for The Lateish Show . Rose Matafeo, Sophie Willan and Aisling Bea are among the nominees for Female Performance In A Comedy Programme.

RTS Programme Awards Nominations Announced

The Royal Television Society (RTS), Britain’s leading forum for television and related media, has today shortlisted the nominations for its RTS Programme Awards 2022, in partnership with Audio Network. The nominations were announced this morning via livestream by journalist Boyd Hilton.

Date Confirmed for Alma’s Not Normal Starring Sophie Willan

Series one of Alma’s Not Normal begins Monday September 13th at 10pm on BBC Two.

The full series will be available on BBC iPlayer following transmission of episode one.

Alma's Not Normal follows Boltonian wild child Alma Nuthall as she tries to get her life back on track after a recent break up. But with no job, no qualifications and a rebellious streak a mile wide, it’s not going to be easy.

Sophie Willan Wins Bafta

Comedian Sophie Willan has won a Bafta for Best Writer: Comedy for her new comedy Alma's Not Normal.

Only a pilot has been broadcast so far, but. a series has just been filmed and will hopefully be broadcast on BBC Two later this year.

The other nominees were Charlie Brooker for his Antiviral Wrap, Charlie and Daisy May Cooper for This Country and the team behind hit BBC sitcom Ghosts.

Filming began in Bolton at the end of April on BBC Two’s Alma’s Not Normal. The comedy series is about Boltonian wild-child, Alma Nuthall (Sophie Willan) and her family of eccentric, unruly women.

Bafta Nominee Sophie Willan Shoots Alma's Not Normal Series

It's been a good week for comedian Sophie Willan. She has been shooting a full series following the successful pilot of sitcom Alma's Not Normal and today she has received a Bafta Award nomination for writing the pilot.

Created, written by, starring and Executive Produced by Sophie Willan, inaugural winner of the BBC’s Caroline Aherne Bursary Award in 2018, Alma’s Not Normal centres on Boltonian wild-child, Alma Nuthall and her family of eccentric, unruly women.
