Miriam Margolyes (Call the Midwife, Miriam’s Big Fat Adventure) to guest star as Queen Victoria, Julia Deakin (Spaced, Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz) and Simon Day (The Life of Rock with Brian Pern, The Fast Show) to play Carole and Mike Middleton in the new series of The Windsors on Channel 4.

News: Simon Day To Play Alf Garnett In TV Remake

Simon Day is to star in the BBC's remake of Till Death Us Do Part. 

The Fast Show star will play the comedy bigot Alf Garnett, made famous by Warren Mitchell, as part of the BBC's 60th anniversary sitcom season. Yesterday it slipped out that Kevin Bishop would star in a Porridge update.

News: "Foot & Mouth" Scuppers Brian Pern Show

Due to unforeseen circumstances the forthcoming Brian Pern comeback has been postponed until 2016. Accotding to Pern's publicists the veteran rock star philanthropist has foot and mouth disease and is in quarantine. 

An Evening With Brian Pern, which was due to take place on Monday 19th October at the Lyric Theatre in London has been rescheduled and will now happen on Monday 1st February, 2016. Ticket holders will be contacted regarding the rescheduled date.

Review: Down The Line, Radio 4

I was really glad that the BBC2 series Bellamy's People did not return after one series. Not because it was awful. It was actually very good. But it meant that spoof DJ Gary Bellamy could return to Radio 4 with his "flagship phone-in show" Down The Line, which is even better. It currently goes out at 6.30pm on Wednesdays and I solemnly urge you to tune in.
