Matt Berry’s C4 sitcom Toast of London has received six British Comedy Award nominations. The sitcom, co-written by Arthur Mathews, is nominated in the Best Sitcom, Best New Comedy and Best Comedy Moment categories, with three of its stars getting acting recognition.

Berry is also nominated for his roles in BBC sitcom House of Fools and his internet short Lone Wolf.

Matt Berry really could keep you hooked by reading the telephone directory. The owner of that distinctive syrupy, lubricious, posh James Mason bellow returns for the second series of Toast of London, in which he plays Steven Toast, a dodgy actor with a dodgy past still looking for that lucky break but making do, somewhat inevitably, with voiceovers. One day that big role may come. Yeah right, and a porker just flew past my window.

TV Review: Uncle, BBC3

It's not surprising that there is a strong whiff of deja vu watching Uncle, the first episode of the new sitcom starring Nick Helm written by newcomer Oliver Refson. A one-off pilot went out on C4 in 2012 and the first episode of this BBC3 series is basically the same scene-setting plot, tarted up and with Helm sporting a slightly tidier haircut.

Update 18/3/14: Throw your hats in the air and dance a jig. A second series of House of Fools has been commissioned by the BBC.

TV Review: Toast of London, C4

Typical. You wait ages for a sitcom about an unhinged actor and then two pitch up. Hot on the heels of Count Arthur Strong comes Matt Berry as Steven Toast, first seen in a C4 pilot in 2012. And there is another uncanny spot of synchronicity too. Strong is co-written by Steve Delaney and Graham Linehan, Toast is co-written by Berry and Linehan's Father Ted chum Arthur Mathews.
