News: Memorial Event For Comedian James Miller

A memorial event has been held in London to remember comedian James Miller, also known as James Macabre, who died suddenly last month, aged 58.

The event was organised by his friend, stand-up Ivor Dembina, and took place at the Angel Comedy Club at the Camden Head, which was where Miller co-founded the Meccano Club in the 1980s. Comedians, friends and family gathered to swap and share stories about the late comic who was famous for his surreal ideas, deadapan delivery, his love of film trivia and cardigans.

News: Comedian James Miller Dies

Beyond The Joke has heard the sad news that comedian James Miller has died.

Miller was a regular performer on the comedy circuit in the 1980s and 1990s when he worked under the name of James Macabre and had a dry, offbeat sense of humour. He was also involved in setting up the influential Meccano Club in north London in the mid-1980s. He was a close friend of Jo Brand and worked with her when she was breaking through with her Channel 4 series, Through The Cakehole.
