The Comedy Women in Print Prize (CWIP) has announced that they will be taking their winners’ celebration online. With Covid-19 restrictions still in place, the physical ceremony at the Groucho Club is not currently possible.

The Comedy Women in Print Prize 2019 (CWIP) has announced both the Published and Unpublished award shortlists for the award’s first year.

The CWIP Prize was launched by actress, author and stand-up comedian Helen Lederer in response to the lack of exposure for female comedy writing, and as a way of celebrating fresh and established talent.

The Comedy Women in Print (CWIP) Prize has announced that they are joining forces with HarperFiction. The publisher will offer the winning aspiring, comic female novelist a publishing contract and £5,000 advance. The runner-up will be offered a free MA in Creative Writing from the University of Hertfordshire.

Interview: Rarely Asked Questions – Helen Lederer

Helen Lederer is a bit of a comedy legend. She was part of the early 1980s new wave and went on to appear regularly on TV, most famously playing dippy Catriona in Absolutely Fabulous. More recently she has appeared in programmes as diverse as Splash, Old Jack's Boat and Hollyoaks.
