Mark Linsey, Director, BBC Studios today announces that Suzy Lamb, currently Head of Entertainment at Thames TV, has been appointed to Genre Director, Entertainment & Music, BBC Studios, which produces shows including Strictly Come Dancing, A Question of Sport, Later… With Jools Holland, Children In Need night of TV and The Proms.

News: Cast Revealed For Morecambe, Wise & Braben Drama

An outstanding cast has been confirmed to star in Eric, Ernie & Me, the BBC Four film about Eddie Braben, who wrote for Morecambe & Wise.

Stephen Tompkinson (DCI Banks, Drop The Dead Donkey) will play Eddie, as he sets about reshaping the iconic double act into the Eric and Ernie that the nation took to its heart.

Jeff Garlin, who plays Larry David's manager Jeff Greene in Curb Your Enthusiasm, is to play London shows.

He will be appearing at the Soho Theatre from Monday December 18 - Saturday December 30. 

News: Simon Brodkin Pranks Theresa May At Tory Conference

Simon Brodkin has pulled off one of his most daring stunts yet.

He managed to get past tight security to hand Prime Minister Theresa May a P45 when she was making her speech at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester.

As he was being bundled out he was asked why he did it and replied: "Boris asked me to do it."

At a time when I regularly hear about comedy clubs struggling to survive it was good this week to hear about two new clubs opening. There’s a big new swanky joint in Glasgow and down south in London Pizza Express Live, just round the corner from Holborn station, is putting on stand-up on Monday nights and is a very welcome – and comfy – addition to the live circuit.

News: Gemma Whelan Joins End Of The World Cast

Character comedian Gemma Whelan, who is best known these days as Yara Greyjoy from Game of Thrones, is to appear as a detective in a new C4 comedy entitled  The End of the F***ing World.

The series will launch as a complete box set exclusively on All 4 later this month, with the first episode premiering on Channel 4.

TV Preview: Porridge, BBC1

Porridge is back with a new series, commissioned off the back of the last year’s sitcom season special, and sees Kevin Bishop return as Nigel ‘Fletch’ Fletcher.

He plays the grandson of Ronnie Barker’s iconic character Norman Stanley Fletcher banged up in Wakeley prison for a series of cybercrimes who spends his days trying to escape the attentions of authoritarian Officer Meekie (Mark Bonnar) and the much softer Officer Braithwaite (Dominic Coleman).
