News: Big Festival For England's Smallest City

Comics Have A Second Crack At Mount Everest

A group of stand-up comedians is going to attempt to perform a gig on the world’s highest mountain in October 2015. This follows plans to do the Everest gig last year, which had to be postponed.

Among those confirmed for the gig of a lifetime are Tommy Tiernan, Glenn Wool, Craig Campbell, Rhys Darby and Stewart Francis. If they succeed they hope to get into the Guinness Book of Records for the highest ever comedy show.

Opinion: Critic's Notes – Audience...Again

After the annoying chatty fan at Tommy Tiernan the other week there was another audience irritant at Seann Walsh last night at the Soho Theatre. Just over half-way through Walsh's set the shaggy-haired star asked someone in the front row if they had a personal hangover cure. Instead of simply answering the question, "Joe" started to embark on an impromptu mid-performance speech.

Opinion: The Wrong Kind of Audience Participation

Tommy Tiernan had one of those people in last night at the Soho Theatre. You know, the ones who insist on interrupting your seamless routine and think that they are helping you out. I think she said she was from Lettermore, though after a while I began to think that she wasn't even sure where she was from herself.

News: Altitude 2014 Line-Up Announced

The Altitude Comedy Festival is returning to Mayrhofen in Austria in 2014 with a larger line-up than ever. The big draw this year is John Bishop, who has previously appeared at Altitude both as a rising star and again in 2013 as a conquering hero. Bishop will be starting his new UK tour in Autumn 2014, dates here, so this may be a chance to get a sneak preview of some of the material he will be airing in arenas in his new show.
