The BBC has confirmed that Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith have started shooting the fourth series of Inside No.9. After the success and critical acclaim of the first three series the show will return to BBC Two with another stellar line up. Each of the six films will again feature new characters, new venues and a new twist on the number nine. Filming continues at locations in West London, Pinewood Studios and Waltham Abbey until Easter.

Opinion: Inside No 9 - The All-Time Top Six Episodes

Following on from the excellent third series, BBC2 is repeating some earlier episodes. The 12 Days Of Christine, which went out again last week, certainly seems to be a favourite of a lot of fans judging by social media. Out of curiosity I had a look at the number of page impressions articles about Inside No 9 have notched up on Beyond The Joke. And, surprise, surprise, The 12 Days Of Christine comes out top there.

TV: Inside No 9, Episode 6, Private View, BBC2

I’ve been a fan of Inside No 9 since it started and it has maintained its high standards right through to this, the final show of the third series. Private View is set in a subterranean East London art gallery where artist Elliot Quinn his hosting, appropriately, his final show, entitled Fragments.

TV: Inside No 9 – Diddle Diddle Dumpling, BBC2

It’s another complete U-turn of tone this week in Diddle Diddle Dumpling, starring Reece Shearsmith and Keeley Hawes as ordinary suburban couple David and Louise. Except, of course, there is nothing ordinary in Diddle Diddle Dumpling.

TV: Inside No 9 – Empty Orchestra, BBC2

After last week’s cryptic chiller The Riddle of the Sphinx there are more cross words this week, but the tone could not be more different in Empty Orchestra (a). It’s not quite La La Land but it’s the closest Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton have come to doing a musical episode. Maybe that’s an idea for series four.

News: Inside No 9 Teams Up With Guardian for Cryptic Crossword Coup

The third episode of the current series of Inside No 9 pulled off a remarkable trick on the day of its transmission with the help of the Guardian.

The episode, The Riddle of the Sphinx, told the sinister story of cross and double cross and featured Steve Pemberton as a devious Cambridge Academic and crossword compiler known as Sphinx. As the programme panned out, successive answers were filled in on a giant crossword grid in his study.

TV Review: Inside No 9 – The Riddle of the Sphinx

Is The Riddle of the Sphinx the best-ever Inside No 9? It is certainly the cleverest. Too clever for words one could even say. How much you relish it may, however, depend on how much of a cruciverbalist you are.

TV Review: Inside No 9 - The Bill, 10pm, BBC2

It’s that time again. When critics try to wrestle with writing about the brilliant Inside No 9 without giving away any spoilers. And times are even harder now. In the past one could give reveals away after the broadcast as it would be hard to see the programme unless it was repeated. Now that a viewing is always only a click away even reviews should keep their lips sealed.

Interview: Jason Watkins, Inside No 9: The Bill, BBC2

What appealed to you about Inside No.9?

First and foremost working with Reece and Steve.  I’d taken part in Psychoville in a previous incarnation - I’ve always loved their work and love working with them. The particular Inside No.9 that I did, The Bill, it’s like a beautifully constructed little play for television. It’s got a great mix of characters and surprising plots - all those things that they do so brilliantly. So that was what was attractive.
