Review: After Life, Netflix

What is the new six-part Netflix series from Ricky Gervais? After Life is certainly funny but it is no sitcom. There is too much going on here that isn't funny to file it snugly under that genre. It's not that safety net catch-all "comedy drama" either though. It's something totally unique. It deserves a category of its own.

TV: Home, C4

Rufus Jones is not stupid. When I tweeted a link to the trailer for his new series Home and said it was about a family finding a Syrian refugee in the back of their Audi in Dorking some wags (hat tips to journalist Gavin Martin and promoter Toby Jones) responded by suggesting it sounded like a live action Paddington. The thought had clearly already occurred to Jones when he was writing Home as he makes the same pre-emptive gag in the very first episode.

Writer Lisa McGee's Derry Girls are back for a second series and the laughs start pretty quickly. Now just settle back and watch the fun.

Review: Fleabag, Series Two, BBC Three/BBC One

So follow that. After the seismic success of the first series of Fleabag the action picks up 371 days and some hours later, with the family gathered for an important celebratory dinner. But this is Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Fleabag, it's never going to be an uneventful meal is it, as an early scene in which a bloody nose is wiped makes abundantly clear.
