News: Radio 4 Commissions Series From Blind Comic Jamie MacDonald

Comedian Jamie MacDonald has been commissioned to write a brand new comedy series for BBC Radio 4. The series will be produced by Richard Melvin for Dabster Productions whose Radio 4 credits include Rosie Jones - Box Ticker, Suggs Love Letters To London, Fred At The Stand and Terry Alderton’s Whole Half Hour.

News: Rowan Atkinson Expresses Concerns Over Hate Crime Bill

Rowan Atkinson is one of the names to have signed a joint letter criticising the Scottish Government's proposed Hate Crime Bill.

There are fears that it could have consequences for freedom of artistic expression.

As well as the Blackadder star, more than 20 prominent names have asked for changes to be made to the new legislation. They include crime writers Val McDermid and Christopher Brookmyre, actor Elaine C Smith and playwright Alan Bissett, gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell and philosopher A C Grayling,

News: Comedian Simon Clayton In Hospital After Stroke – Crowdfunder Campaign Reaches Target And Continues

Comedian Simon Clayton is in hospital after suffering a stroke earlier this week.

His wife, comedian Mary Bourke, has reported on his condition on Facebook. Yesterday she wrote that he had come off the ventilator and was responding to commands.

The comedy community has been quick to offer their support. The couple had already been hit by the loss of work due to Covid19.

News: Now That's What I Call Live Streamed Comedy – Stand-Up Show On River

Oxford-based comedy club Jericho Comedy is setting up a live show on water on 20th August.

The audience will be seated on boats floating on the river Cherwell. Jericho have been adaptable coming out of lockdown running open air and drive in comedy shows to embrace social distancing and to ensure audience members are as safe as possible, now they have set their sights on putting on a floating comedy club to provide social distancing on boats.
