News: Star Guests Announced for Third Series of Inside No 9

The third series of the award-winning and acclaimed BBC Two comedy Inside No 9 has begun filming and will return later this year. A star-studded cast will join creators Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton in six stand-alone comedy dramas - each one set in a different location with a completely new style, tone and characters.

New settings include a restaurant after closing time, an art gallery and an alpine chalet in 1978.

News: Major Tour Extension From Katherine Ryan

Katherine Ryan has added even more dates to her 2016 Kathbum tour due to phenomenal demand. These new dates start from April 14 at the Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre in Newcastle and end on May 21 at the Eventim Apollo in London. Tickets for the extra dates go on sale at 10am on Friday January 22 here.

News: Midlands Comedy Awards Results Announced

The results of this year's Midlands Comedy Awards have been announced at a ceremony in Birmingham. Comics Tom Binns and Barry Dodds (pictured) walked away with the top prizes, but the biggest surprise of the night was Voodoo Stands Up, from the Lincolnshire village of Stamford, beating regional heavyweights Just The Tonic and The Glee Club to secure the Best Comedy Club prize.

News: Frankie Boyle 'Censored' By Guardian

Comedian Frankie Boyle has expressed annoyance that his latest column in the Guardian was cut.

Boyle's column yesterday about the possibility of a Jeremy Corbyn government ran on Tuesday but after a while a section in which he imagined Rupert Murdoch having sex disappeared from the article.

Al Porter is definitely going places.  Probably that primetime household name shiny-floored place. He certainly looks the part in his sharp suit and Leslie Crowther hairstyle. And he has the talent to go with it too. Still in his early twenties he is already a TV regular back home in Ireland and made a big impression when he appeared on Live at the Apollo last year. He certainly works hard too, squeezing more words into his set than most would use in a week.

Interview: Rarely Asked Questions – Nina Conti

Ventriloquism looks like it is having what you might call its rock and roll moment. Paul Zerdin won America’s Got Talent and in London Nina Conti is about to embark on what must surely be the longest-ever West End run for a member of this venerable variety profession. Certainly the longest run since the golden age of vaudeville. Conti plays 18 shows at the Criterion Theatre from February 25, but she will not be alone onstage.

News: Writers' Guild Awards For Comedy Talent

Satirical sitcom Veep won Best TV Situation Comedy and Deborah Frances-White won Best Radio Comedy for Deborah Frances-White Rolls The Dice at the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Awards last night.

A special tribute was also made to Writers’ Guild member David Nobbs, who died on 8 August 2015 and was best known for writing the 1970s series The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, adapted from his own novels. Novelist and writer Jonathan Coe, whose novel What a Carve Up! was adapted by David Nobbs, gave a speech in his memory.

Yashere is joined by the fantastic Funmbi Omotayo, with his laid back but razor sharp lines on life in London and Nigeria.
