News: Johnny Vegas To Play Next Working From Home Gig

Comic legend Johnny Vegas makes a return to live comedy at this Saturday's online Working From Home show put on by the Just The Tonic Comedy Club.

Gavin and Stacey star Mathew Horne will also be appearing in the guise of ‘Paul Human; Patron to the Arts’. Long before he was a sitcom star Horne was a regular live performer as part of the double act Matt and Mackinnon. He also briefly performed live in sketches with James Corden.

It was pretty brave of Gold to schedule this one-off film on primetime on a Saturday night in the run-up to Christmas. But then the channel had reason to be ambitious. Their previous all-star Agatha Christie spoof starring Johnny Vegas and Sian Gibson, Murder on the Blackpool Express, was the highest-ever rating show on Gold. They will be hoping for the same here. And they might just get it.

The BBC must have been pleased with the pilot of Home From Home because after the one-off starring Johnny Vegas went out on BBC Two in 2016 the full series is promoted to BBC One. Should they be pleased with it? Well, Home From Home isn't going to scare the horses or prompt the modern equivalent, Twitter rage, but it's not too bad at all.

The audience at last night’s performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at St Helens Theatre Royal got a special Christmas present when comedian Johnny Vegas walked onstage.

The Benidorm and Still Open All Hours star has been playing the role of the Magic Mirror during this year’s festive production, but appearing via pre-recorded video projection each night. However, the star surprised the cast and the audience by making a very special live appearance.
