'Lost' 'Pre-Python' 'Episodes' Suddenly 'Appear'

Episodes of a comedy series made by and starring Michael Palin and Terry Jones before Monty Python's Flying Circus have unexpectedly popped up on the streaming channel Britbox.

Six episodes were made of the spoof history series The Complete And Utter History Of Britain in 1969 and shown on London Weekend Television, but it had long been believed that apart from a few fragments only the first two episodes had survived.

Secrets of the Comedy Circuit Streams On ITVX

UTV’s ‘Secrets of the Comedy Circuit’ has been picked up by the UK streaming service ITVX

All four episodes are now available to watch.

First commissioned and aired by UTV in late 2022, the episodes were filmed in front of a live audience in the Belfast Empire Music Hall during their ‘Empire Laughs Back Comedy Club’ nights, now celebrating 30 years.

ITV Commissions Darkly Comic Horror From Broadchurch Star

ITV’s Head of Drama, Polly Hill, has commissioned Passenger from debut screenwriter Andrew Buchan who is best known for his acting roles on Broadchurch, The Honourable Woman, ABC Murders.  

Passenger is a darkly comic horror produced by the award-winning SISTER (This Is Going To Hurt, Chernobyl, Landscapers) for ITVX, ITV and BritBox International. 

In the small Northern village of Chadder Vale, a close-knit community is sent spinning on its axis following a series of strange and unnatural crimes.

News: Russell T Davies Exec Produces New ITV Series You & Me

ITV has commissioned a new relationship drama, You & Me, written by Jamie Davis and produced by Dominic Treadwell-Collins’ ITV Studios label, Happy Prince.

Actor/writer Jamie Davis has created and written the series, which has led to his first screenwriting commission.  You & Me is Treadwell-Collins’ first commission following the launch of his new production company.

News: ITV Addresses Gender Imbalance In Comedy

TV’s Controller of Comedy Saskia Schuster has hosted an event with RTS, The Writers' Guild, Era 50:50, Funny Women and BAFTA to launch Comedy 50:50, an initiative seeking to implement measures to address the gender imbalance in comedy, starting with writers.
 
The event brought together producers, writers and agents and was opened by Schuster, who talked about her plans to build on ITV’s Social Partnership agreement to increase the number of female writers in comedy teams on ITV productions.
