TV Review: Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, Dave

We can’t all fit into the green room backstage at comedy gigs where stand-ups shoot the breeze and gossip about each other, but luckily there is always Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled. The latest series returns to Dave tonight to go out nightly after the evening Euro matches.

Joining Davies in the first outing is the starry formation of Stephen Fry, Sandi Toksvig, Sara Pascoe and Alex Edelman. It’s a nice mix of old and new, though there is not much mention of having a past and present QI host in the ranks.

Interview: Brett Goldstein on SuperBob

A Hollywood screenwriter couldn’t make it up. We had just finished talking about his role as a London-based superhero when actor and comedian Brett Goldstein came to the rescue in a real-life drama. As we walked to St Pancras station, a man running for a train slipped and head-butted the pavement. In a flash Goldstein was at his side, albeit without changing into his Lycra pants and cape.

TV Review: Big School, BBC1

School's in for summer. Jack Whitehall's Bad Education is due back soon on BBC3 and Greg Davies has a class act, Man Down, coming on C4. But first out of the changing rooms is Big School, which starts on BBC1 tonight and stars David Walliams and Catherine Tate.

Opinion: Lee Mack & Catherine Tate Love Raymond

Interesting to hear today that Lee Mack and Catherine Tate are going to star in a UK remake of the American sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond entitled The Smiths. I can't predict if the UK version, relocated to Cheshire, will be a hit, but it sounds well cast. Both Mack and Tate have a track record at the kind of broad comedy that Raymond excelled at and they also have a track record of working well together.
