A good showing from the comedy world this week, with Cariad Lloyd and Geoff Norcott joining Yasmine Akram and Dennis Taylor as they compete for Richard Osman's prestigious prizes.

Podcast fans will know Cariad Lloyd as the host of the award-winning Griefcast, in which she interviews celebrities about how they have coped with the loss of a loved one and how they have dealt with the grief. Her father died of pancreatic cancer when she was 15.

Cariad Lloyd's podcast Griefcast has won three prizes at the British Podcast Awards.

The acclaimed series, in which Lloyd interviews people about dealing with death won Best Entertainment, Best Interview and Podcast of the Year. 

Among the people Lloyd has interviewed are Adam Buxton, Robert Webb, David Baddiel, Sara Pascoe and Michael Legge, who talked about losing his dog Jerk.

Cariad Lloyd was nominated for a Foster’s Best Newcomer Award in 2011 and since then has also made a name for herself on the live scene, most notably with Austentatious, the highly skilled troupe who create a new Austen play at each performance. Lloyd is nothing if not diverse. She has been vocal about the tampon tax and created a character called Sanitary Bag Lady who shouted at men who might be disgusted by the mention of menstruation.
