Jo Caulfield, Ninia Benjamin & Mark Nelson Share Circuit Comedian of the Year Award

Jo Caulfield, Ninia Benjamin and Mark Nelson have jointly won the award for Circuit Comedian of the Year.

The comedy industry voted resulted in a triple tie so the award this year – won last year by Scott Bennett – will be shared.

Sean Lock posthumously picks up the Outstanding Achievement Award.

Best MC went to Paul Smith, a regular compere at the Hot Water Club in Liverpool.


News: BBC Audio Drama Awards 2021 – Full Results

The BBC Audio Drama Awards 2021 has revealed winners including Sir Tom Stoppard, Maggie Steed, David Threlfall and the youngest recipient to date, Jordan Nash – all in a virtual ceremony marking the 10th year of the awards. The Outstanding Contribution prize and a new ‘Year of Reinvention’ category both recognised the sector’s achievements in light of challenges presented by covid-19.

Shows in the running include The Duchess starring Katherine Ryan and Staged which are both up for Best New TV Sitcom.

After Life and Friday Night Dinner are among those up for Best Returning Sitcom.


News: BBC Audio Drama Awards Shortlist Announced

The BBC Audio Drama Awards shortlist for 2021 has been revealed. Nominees include Newsjack, Tim Key, Milton Jones, SeanceCast, The Lenny Henry Show and Elliot Steel. 

The finalists will be announced on Tuesday 9 February 2021, and the winners on Sunday 21 March 2021. 


News: Awards Shortlist Revealed

The Awards shortlist has been revealed. 430 new British comedy shows on TV and radio in 2019 have now been whittled down to a shortlist of just 60. As well as individual categories one of the 60 shortlisted titles will be crowned Comedy Of The Year. Fans can vote for their favourites at this link here. 

Voting closes on Sunday 26th January 2020 at 11:59pm. The winners will be announced on Monday 27th January.

The winners of the second annual North West Comedy Awards have been announced. The Awards night was held at the Frog and Bucket Comedy Club Manchester on Wednesday 8 January.

The awards are organised by the Frog and Bucket Comedy Club and A Rush Of Laughter comedy management company and nominations and winners were voted for by the public.

News: Inside No. 9 Wins Comedy Of The Year Award At Awards

BBC2's Inside No. 9, written by and starring Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton, has been named Comedy Of The Year in the annual Awards. Other winners include Taskmaster, Red Dwarf and Dead Ringers. The anthology series, currently airing on BBC2 on Tuesdays, also won Best TV Comedy Drama.


News: Broadcast Awards Shortlist Announced

The BBC Three sitcom Uncle, starring Nick Helm, is among the nominees for the Broadcast Awards announced tonight.

Other notable comedy programmes in contention include Inside No 9, penned by Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton and Toast of London, which has picked up the most nominations in the forthcoming British Comedy Awards.

The Broadcast Awards winners will be announced on February 4 next year in a ceremony at the Savoy Hotel in London. Here are the main comedy-related categories.
