News: Joe Lycett To Front BBC One Game Show

Joe Lycett

Comedian Joe Lycett is to present a new BBC1 Saturday tea-time game show.

The Time it Takes is looking for contestants to take on the challenge of answering as many questions as you can to win a dream holiday. But there’s a twist – instead of answering questions against the clock, you’ve got to pick your own timer from a series of very silly challenges.

Would it take longer to pack an air bed back into a box, or fill a welly with custard using a turkey baster? This is what we need you to work out in order to get your prize.

Joe Lycett says: "Never before has so much relied on someone knowing how long a kettle takes to boil. The Time It Takes is one of the most brilliantly daft shows I’ve ever been involved in - and that’s saying something.”

The Time It Takes is produced by Hat Trick Productions for BBC One. The producer for the series is Meriel Beale and the Executive Producer is Richard Wilson. The new series was commissioned for BBC One by Jo Street, Commissioning Editor of Entertainment and Daytime.

Managing Director of Hat Trick Productions Jimmy Mulville, says: “The Time It Takes is a brilliant format which is brought to life by the hugely talented Joe Lycett. It’s both exciting and funny - just what you want at tea-time on Saturdays.”

Series Producer Meriel Beale, says: “The Time It Takes is very funny and incredibly silly and happily so is Joe Lycett. I'm very excited to be working with such a star and I've no doubt his warm, generous wit will be lapped up by BBC One viewers.”

Lycett's profile is very much on the rise at the moment. He is also due to present a light-hearted consumer series on C4 entitled Joe Lycett's Got Your Back, and he has just had a sculpture accepted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, which he has valued at £12,500,000.

If you want to take part applications close on Wednesday 27th June.

The series will air later this year.
