Opinion: Your Perfect Inside No. 9 Series

Tom & Gerri

The fourth series of Inside No. 9 went out with a bang with the final episode, Tempting Fate, and it was accompanied by the splendid news that there will be a fifth series that will be unleashed in 2019.

Just before the start of this series in December Beyond The Joke put together a Dream Inside No. 9 series, a run-down of the top six episodes based on the number of clicks each review had received on the website. It seemed like a purely arbitrary measure but the chart published seemed to match up well with other charts based on personal critiques at the time.

Without a doubt The 12 Days Of Christine is widely regarded as the finest-ever Inside No. 9. But BTJ has just done some number crunching and, as if proof was needed, the latest figures suggest that the recent series is the best. A number of newer episodes now feature in the chart - and considering they have had only a few weeks to clock up clicks rather than a few years that is surely an indication of how popular this series has been. They will surely climb higher in the next few weeks if this was a weekly chart. Perhaps the biggest surprise is And The Winner Is...featuring there. But as I said this chart is based on clicks not star ratings.

Anyway, without further ado cue the Top Of The Pops-style music and let's have a look at the latest positions with previous positions in brackets...

1. The 12 Days Of Christine (1)

2. Tom & Gerri (3) - pictured.

3. The Harrowing (2)

4. The Riddle Of The Sphinx (4)

5. Private View (5)

6. To Have And To Hold (-)

Bubbling Under

7. Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room (-)

8. And The Winner Is (-)

The episode starring Jack Whitehall, La Couchette, is being repeated next Tuesday, February 13, at 10pm.
