Interview
How chuffed were you to get a third series?
Jon: We still can't believe we got away with the second series. We filmed it through lockdown but it looked just like a normal series, even though we took precautions. So the third series was a breeze; we could go anywhere and do anything. The gloves were off. We've got the new house, new location, new people and it’s re-energised it.
Why do you think it's so popular?
Extraordinary Escapes is back on our screen and this time we have six episodes to devour. What can viewers expect?
This Is Going To Hurt is based on Adam Kay’s award-winning international multi-million selling memoir of the same name, which has sold over 2.5 million copies to date and has been translated into 37 languages. The series, which is created, written and executive produced by Kay himself, rejoices in the laugh-out-loud highs, while pulling no punches in its depiction of the gut-wrenching lows of life on a gynaecology and obstetrics ward.
The Curse is a comedy caper set in London in the early 1980s, following a gang of hopeless small time crooks who through their own stupidity and poor judgement find themselves embroiled in one of the biggest gold heists in history.
Welcome to C Wing in a busy men’s prison, a place that’s bursting at the seams with humour, emotional high stakes and danger for prisoners and officers alike. At the head of a group of embattled prison officers is Leigh (Nina Sosanya – His Dark Materials, Little Birds) a woman who has devoted her entire adult life to this prison and its population. Leigh keeps her inmates in line and has their backs when they need it.
Ahead of Jon & Lucy’s Christmas Sleepover airing on Channel 4 on December 27th, here is an interview with real-life husband and wife Jon Richardson & Lucy Beaumont. In the one-off seasonal special, Jon and Lucy are joined by comedy pals to eat, drink and get very merry during a night away from the post-Christmas, pre-New Year lull as they look back at the year gone by.
What can you tell us about I Literally Just Told You? What attracted you to the premise?
Is Robin Ince the hardest working polymath in showbiz? It certainly seems like it if you follow him on social media where he keeps everyone bang up to date with his various projects. Ince has recently been travelling to pretty much every indie bookshop in the land promoting his latest publication, The Importance of Being Interested.
The brand new series of The Weakest Link with Romesh Ranganathan starts on Saturday 18th Dec, BBC One, with a Strictly Special. There is also a special Christmas episode coming up. Read more about that here.
What is the true essence of Christmas? Is it the glimmer in a schoolboy’s expectant eye as he opens his pillowcase on Christmas morning and tucks into a delicious walnut and a bruised tangerine? Is it the wide smile on a publican’s face as he welcomes merry revellers with a vat of warm mulled wine he’s made in a sort of electric keg he normally puts oxtail soup in? Is it the haunting harmony of a choir respecting the current Covid protocols?
