More celebrities put their baking skills to the test in Britain's most famous tent, taking on three challenges set by judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, all to raise awareness of Stand Up To Cancer and win the covetable Star Baker apron. This week Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding inviteTop Gear presenter Paddy McGuinness, Nolan sister Coleen, Inbetweeners actor Joe Thomas and comedian Ellie Taylor into the tent to showcase their baking skills.
Can you bake?
I have baked, I have involved myself in the baking process, but no one has wanted to eat said baked goods. I made rock buns and my mum gave me bicarb of soda instead of baking soda and my grandad tried one and frothed at the mouth we though he was having a fit.
Describe your baking style in one word.
Traumatic.
What’s your favourite baked good?
I like them all. Possibly, vicky sponge inches forward.
Can you bake?
I thought I could. But that’s one of the first things you find out when you get into that tent. I found out several times that no, I can’t bake.
Describe your baking style in one word.
Limited.
What’s your favourite baked good?
Are flapjacks baked? I just had one with toffee on from Costcutter.
Comedy dynamo Susie McCabe is heading out on a Scottish tour this Spring with her new show, Femme Fatality. McCabe is a brilliant, honest storyteller who is not afraid to get personal.
Frankie Boyle
People were slightly surprised when you signed up for it.
Yes, but I’ve got nothing to lose. I didn’t quite grasp the show at first because they asked me to do it years ago. I was a bit like, “This is just people trying to bake a cake only using their elbows. What the fuck is going on?” But then I started watching it like, “Oh, right. It’s a kind of play about humility.”
Did you become a fan of the show?
Interview with Jenny Eclair
What an absolute hoot. It’s a lovely line-up.
