After a five year absence, triple BAFTA winning comedy, Detectorists, is to return later this year for a one-off 75 minute special.
A warm, funny, honey dripped drama Detectorists follows the travails of two metal detecting hobbyists, Lance and Andy, as they negotiate the beautiful gentle rhythms of the English countryside.
Detectorists has won the Rose D'Or for Best Sitcom.
The series, starring Mackenzie Crok and Toby Jones and written and directed by Crook was one of a number of British winners on the night.
A Very English Scandal, about Jeremy Thorpe and starring Hugh Grant, won best limited series and TV movie.
And Joanna Lumley was given a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Netflix series The Crown was the other big winner, scooping Best Drama Series.
Golden Era For Sitcoms?
Writer, director and star Mackenzie Crook has said that this is the last series of Detectorists. If that's the case it will be a great shame. There really is nothing like it on television at the moment. In an era of hard-faced, smug, knowing comedy this lovely series following the countryside lives of a group of metal detecting enthusiasts and co-starring Toby Jones is a shining beacon of uncynical, gentle humour.

Beyond The Joke can reveal that the new series will start on BBC4 on Wednesday, November 8 at 10pm.
Writer and star MacKenzie Crook has said that this third six-part series will probably be the last one he makes. The series follows the lives and loves of people who hunt for buried treasure around the village of Danebury.
Last seen in 2015, the third instalment will transmit later this year in a six-part series.
Not much in the way of tinsel in this seasonal special, but there is definitely something shiny. It’s the Anglo-Saxon treasure that Lance has unearthed. At the start of this welcome extra episode it is on display in the British Museum. But the find appears to have come with strings attached. Has Lance fallen victim to ‘the curse of the gold’?
The Danebury Metal Detecting Club is back and this time it’s serious. Well, not completely serious. Mackenzie Crook’s countryside sitcom was one of the most subtle, slow-burn comedies to pop up in recent years. There are no big laughs here, but lots of gently comic character studies to keep you hooked.
Actor/comedian MacKenzie Crook has joined the line-up of the first Radio Times Festival, which takes place at Hampton Court Palace from September 24 - 27.
Crook, who writes, directs and stars in the Detectorists will appear alongside producer Adam Tandy, to offer an insight into the programme's uniquely British story of love, companionship and eccentricity.
