Sunday Brunch With Sarah Solemani and Dustin Demri-Burns

Interesting guests this week on Sunday Brunch including Sarah Solemani and Dustin Demri-Burns, two actors known mainly for their comedy but recently branching out into more diverse work.

Sarah Solemani is one of the stars and the co-writer of Chivalry, the new Channel 4 comedy about #metoo in showbiz also starring Steve Coogan (who co-wrote it) and Aisling Bea and Lolly Adefope.

TV: The Pact, BBC2

This final BBC2 pilot has success written over it. The stars are Him & Her's Sarah Solemani and the devilishly handsome Brett Goldstein as two schoolfriends who make a deal aged 15 that if they are single at 35 they will get together. After the teenage opening we flash forward to the present day. Surely getting a decent romcom out of this basic plot should be a doddle. Apparently not.

Review: Him & Her, BBC3

After a hectic week I had a pre-Xmas binge on Him & Her at the weekend, catching up with the fourth series on iPlayer. Having already seen the first episode it made sense to watch the final four back to back, movie-style, as they all took place on the same day in the same place – Paul and Laura were getting married, Becky (Sarah Solemani) was a bridesmaid and Steve (Russell Tovey) was best man.

TV Review: Bad Education Christmas Special, BBC3

It can't be long now before either BBC3 or Channel 4 comes up with a themed Jack Whitehall night. Maybe they are merely waiting until he gets his knighthood for services to our TV schedules. 2013 has pretty much been his year, with two hit series under his belt (three if you include the fun-if-throwaway Backchat) and last week a King of Comedy gong at the British Comedy Awards to crown it all.

Classic Interview: Sarah Solemani

This article that first appeared in The Times in January 2012 coincided with Sarah Solemani's appearance in the stage play The House Of Bernarda Alba, which was a bit of a U-turn after the grubbily brilliant sitcom Him & Her. Since then Solemani (picture by Kurtiss Llloyd) has firmed up her comedy credentials with a winning performance alongside Jack Whitehall in BBC3's Bad Education and more Him & Her.
