News: Stand-Ups Star In Secret Sex Confessions Show

Comedians Nick Helm, James Acaster, Nish Kumar and Marcus Brigstocke are among the performers appearing in a new unrehearsed show about heterosexual female sexuality at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Manwatching is described as "a funny, frank, and occasionally explicit insight into heterosexual female desire, read out loud by a man."

Edinburgh Preview: Marcus Brigstocke

Last time I saw Marcus Brigstocke in Edinburgh it nearly didn’t happen. He was demonstrating one of the moves he used to do as a dancer in his pre-stand-up days and he fell down and injured his leg. Like the trouper he is he carried on with crutches and even did more dancing at the end. That show was a personal one, in which Brigstocke put politics aside to talk about his time working on oil rigs, having an eating disorder and, erm, being a dancer. This year he has got back on the satire train in Why The Long Face?.

Marcus Brigstocke is returning to BBC Radio 4 with a new series of The Brig Society, mixing stand-up, sketches and an attempt to improve the world.

Each week, Brigstocke is in charge of a big thing - the Foreign Office, football, Facebook - and attempts to make it run smoothly. He starts out by thinking "Well, it can't be that difficult, surely?" and ends up with "Oh - it's utterly difficult and I've made a complete fist of it."

Review: Marcus Brigstocke, Soho Theatre

Marcus Brigstocke describes his current show Je M’Accuse as “pissing about”. After making his name as a passionate ranter on the heavier subjects of politics and religion he has decided to shoot the breeze a bit more here and just talk about himself and tell some simple, effective stories about past jobs, his childhood and his testicles. The result is an hour that is consistently funny even if you occasionally crave for something meatier.

Opinion: Injury Time on the Fringe

Update 10/8/13 I've just heard about another performer who has joined the walking wounded. For part of his show in which he explores what it takes to be a legend, Luke Benson took part in the Tough Mudder, apparently the hardest military obstacle course known to man. Afterwards he said "it wasn’t that hard!" but he did not realise that he had fused his hip during the electric shock run.
