News: Comedians Gather To Pay Tribute To Comedy Svengali Kim Kinnie

The cream of the UK comedy scene has gathered to remember comedy svengali Kim Kinnie, who died earlier this year.

Kinnie was famously the booker at the Comedy Store in London and the tribute appropriately took place in the venue's current home in Oxendon Street just off Leicester Square. Kinnie was well known in the 1980s for handing out sage advice to up and coming stand-up comedians. He was also famous for usually having a glass of red wine nearby.

News: Funeral Of Comedy Svengali Kim Kinnie Takes Place

The funeral of Kim Kinnie took place today at Daldowie Crematorium in Glasgow.

Kinnie was the much-loved comedy booker at the Comedy Store in the 1980s and 1990s. He was 74 and died on February 11.

He later returned to Scotland and worked in television where he championed stand-up talent on the series Funny Farm. He also worked on Comedy Rules, Win, Lose or Draw, Wolf It, Get Wet, On Safari, Uncle Dad and Butterfingers.

News: Influential Comedy Figure Kim Kinnie Dies

Tributes have been paid to Kim Kinnie, the influential comedy figure who has died.

Kinnie had cancer and died in Glasgow. He was the booker at the Comedy Store from its early days through to the 1990s and gave breaks to a generation of comedians that have gone to become household names. He was a familiar figure often seen standing and smiling at the sound desk with a glass of red wine. He later worked in television, producing the Scottish series The Funny Farm, and also directed plays.
