News: Graham Linehan Joins Big Comedy Conference

Beyond The Joke can exclusively reveal that comedy writer Graham Linehan will be taking part in the forthcoming Big Comedy Conference as one of the headline speakers on Saturday, November 29. The event, organised by the British Comedy Guide, will features talks and advice on how to get on in TV and radio comedy writing from some of the most influential figures in the industry.

News: Comedy Writer Writes Book

Comedy writer David Quantick is working on a novel entitled The Mule and is looking for funding via publishers Unbound. According to the author "it’s a book about a book. It’s also about murder, violence, Paris and just a little bit of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. When a book with photos of a murdered lady appears, this very worried (and very not dead) lady turns to translator Jacky for help."

TV Preview: Snodgrass, Sky Arts

When it comes to comedy Sky is currently on a roll. From Hunderby to their recent Love Matters series they've been delivering the comic goods with enviable consistency and originality and they have done it again with Snodgrass, which goes out this Thursday and stars Ian Hart as John Lennon. Pretty canny casting as Hart has already played John Lennon twice on film, in The Hours and Times and Backbeat.
