News: Launch Date Announced For Third And Final Series Of This Country On BBC Three

The date has been revealed for the third series of acclaimed mockumentary This Country.

BBC Three will release the new series on Monday, February 17 at 7pm. Episodes will be released weekly rather than as a boxed set. The bad news is that this will be the final series. 

The date was announced at an exclusive public screening of two new episodes from the series at the BFI on the South Bank in London.

Fans of BAFTA award-winning comedy This Country can get a sneak preview of the new series at a one-off screening.

BBC Three is bringing the series back to its Cotswold roots on Thursday 23 January - and tickets are completely free.

Fans will get to see the first two episodes of the new series followed by a Q&A with sibling stars Daisy and Charlie Cooper, producer Simon Mayhew-Archer and director Tom George.

News: This Country Stars On Their New Book And New Series

Brother and sister Charlie Cooper and Daisy May Cooper will be back as Cotswolds cousins Kurtan and Kerry Mucklowe in a new series of This Country in February 2020.

Talking about the new series on Sunday Brunch on C4 Charlie Cooper, who was originally only going to write and not act in it, expressed his surprise that the mockumentary about local people where he grew up had been so successful: "We didn't think anyone outside the Cotswolds would get it...but you have Kerry Kurtans everywhere."

Michael Sleggs, who plays local lad Sluggs in the award-winning mockunentary This Country, has revealed that he is dying.

Sleggs (pictured right as Sluggs in This Country), who is a friend of the shows creators and stars Charlie and Daisy May Cooper in real life dating back to their pre-fame years, posted the news on social media.

News: BBC Commissions More This Country Including A Special

BBC Three has commissioned both a one-off special and a third series of This Country.

The second series of the acclaimed mockumentary launched in February 2018 on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer with a slot on BBC One on Tuesday nights. The show has had over 11 million iPlayer requests to date and on BBC One has seen audiences of well over a million, winning its slot every week with an average 13% audience share.

In the Best Female Performance In a Comedy category Anna Maxwell Martin, Daisy May Cooper, Sharon Horgan and Sian Gibson are nominated for their performances in Motherland, This Country, Catastrophe and Peter Kay's Car Share respectively.
