News: Mixed Response to Spitting Image Piers Morgan Puppet

There has been a mixed response to the Spitting Image version of Piers Morgan.

The new puppet version of the controversial pundit was exclusively revealed by Morgan himself on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday morning.

Morgan quipped in advance that "It’s just as disgustingly grotesque, hideously unflattering & deeply personally offensive as you would all hope."

On social media after the unveiling some people agreed with him, others had other ideas.

The Good Morning Britain Twitter account tweeted: "The resemblance is uncanny." Although they later acknowledged that a lot of people said that it looked more like Labour Party leader Keir Starmer.

"Could be either," said Patrick B.

"Think there is a distinct lack of chins," tweeted Kevin Martin.

Sam Turner tweeted: "Very environmentally aware of them to use the same puppet for Morgan, Starmer, and Andrew Neil."

Some, however, thought it wasn't nasty enough. Gary Lineker tweeted: "The first time I can recall a spitting image puppet to be actually quite flattering, @piersmorgan."

Comedian Luke Kempner, who will be doing some of the voices on the rebooted satire show tweeted: "So. Slightly annoyed how much @piersmorgan is enjoying all this. Very excited and fired up to be playing Piers in @SpittingImage!"

Spitting Image is available on Britbox from Saturday, October 3.
