News: Live Shows For After Life Star Tom Basden

Following writing and acting roles, Tom Basden has just announced his return to stand-up comedy, with a six night run at London’s Soho Theatre of his brand-new show Sorry Thank You Please. The show is the award-winning comic’s first full stand-up show in 10 years. The Soho Theatre performances will run from Monday 13th – Saturday 18th January 2020 and tickets are on general sale from 12pm on Friday 1st November.

Since his last stand-up outing, Tom has brought a child into the world (not on his own to be fair) and is appalled by the state of the place. A show about blame, ingratitude and our various, largely poor, attempts to keep each other happy. His first solo show in over a decade, and hopefully the wake-up call people need to finally buck their ideas up.

Shrewdly capitalising on the success of his last two critically-acclaimed shows by doing something utterly different ten years later, this is a low-fi, honest hour of stand-up from a man in the twilight of his thirties trying to convince himself that he’s a good parent while not actually being at home at the time.

An acclaimed writer, actor and comedian, Tom’s television credits include roles in After Life (Netflix), Quacks, W1A and The Wrong Mans (BBC Two) and Cowards (BBC Four), with further writing credits on Fresh Meat, Peep Show (C4) and Gap Year (E4). Tom co-created the ITV2 sitcom Plebs and has now co-written and starred in five series of the show. He also had a lead role in Ricky Gervais’s 2016 movie David Brent: Life on the Road.

Tom has recently finished filming on the second series of Ricky Gervais and Netflix’s After Life.

For BBC Radio 4, Tom has written and starred in three series and a Christmas special of his sitcom Party, while appearing regularly as ‘Lord’ in Tim Key’s Late-Night Poetry Programme.

For stage, Tom has created & written the hit plays Party (which he also appeared in), Holes, The Crocodile, There Is A War and Joseph K.

Tom won the Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer in 2007 and was British Comedy Award Best Breakthrough Act nominee in 2013.
