News: Tour For Elf Lyons

Following her run at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, 2017’s Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Show Nominee Elf Lyons hits the road with her new show Love Songs to Guinea Pigs.

In August 2018, Elf was planning a physical clown show with dance, tap, rock n’ roll and the splits. However, a couple of months later, disaster struck; Elf was taken to the hospital and told it was best that she never performs again. After months spent lying on her back and being wheeled in and out of MRI machines, Elf had to rethink how to get back to the stage. Inspiration struck, and Love Songs to Guinea Pigs was born.

Join Elf as she presents a surreal tale of love and loneliness, embodying her inner Katherine Hepburn through an absurd narrative of heartbreak and love with live music, terrible mime, silly characters, enthusiastic accents and entirely true stories. This is Brief Encounter, but with rodents.

Over the past few years, Elf Lyons has proven herself to be one of the fastest rising stars in comedy. Since being a finalist in the Funny Women competition in 2013, she has made her mark on the London and UK comedy circuit, as well as performing at leading arts festivals all around the world.  International performances have included Luxembourg's Humour de la Paix Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Berlin Fringe, Fringe World Perth and two sell-out runs at Paris' Central Théâtre du Gymnase.

Elf's fourth solo show, Swan, gained her an Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination for Best Show, a nomination for a Malcolm Hardee Award, a Perth FRINGE WORLD nomination for Best Comedy Show and won her a Pick of the Fringe award at the Adelaide Fringe.

In 2017, Elf was commissioned to write and star in a video for BBC Comedy as part of their Top 10 series (produced by Rumpus Media) and in 2018, Elf was commissioned to write and star in a short for the BBC 3 Quickies series. She was announced as a part of the BBC New Talent Hot List 2017 as a performer and is currently developing a number of projects for television.

Elf has also had appearances on BBC Radio 1’s Unexpected Fluids, the CALM podcast launched by TV network DAVE, and BBC Arts Hour, in addition to a takeover she did for Fubar Radio this past May.

In October 2018, Elf created Medusa with the NST Laboratory Associates which had a sell-out run at the Nuffield Theatre, Southampton and received an array of 5-star reviews.

In February of 2019, Elf sold out her three-night run of Love Songs to Guinea Pigs at the Network Theatre as part of Vault Festival.
