Comedian and magician Graeme Mathews appears on Britain's Got Talent tonight (Saturday, May 4).

The 34-year-old Essex stand-up, who is also a children's entertainer known as Bam Bam, is the latest figure from the comedy world to appear in the current series. Mrs Barbara Nice received four yeses from the judges when she appeared earlier in the series and wlll appear in the programme where it is decided who goes through to the live shows.

It is not surprising that another comedian is appearing in this new series. In last year's series Lost Voice Guy Lee Ridley was the first comedian to be crowned winner. Robert White and Micky P Kerr were finalists and Noel James and Nick Page made the semi-final. In the previous year Daliso Chaponda made the final. Lorraine Bowen also made a splash on the programme. London-based comic Kojo has already received the Golden Buzzer straight into the Semi-Finals in this year's series.

The winner picks up a prize of £250,000 and the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.

Producers and researchers have been regularly trawling the stand-up circuit for comedy talent in recent years. A number of comedians have been repeatedly approached. Some have turned the programme down, concerned about how their 'storyline' and 'routine' might be edited. Others have decided that the exposure will be good for their careers. It has certainly worked for Lost Voice Guy.

Will Graeme Mathews join Barbara Nice? Watch a trailer below in which he is joined by his glamorous assistant Amanda Holden.
