News: Mrs Barbara Nice To Appear On Britain's Got Talent

Mrs Barbara Nice is to appear as a contestant on the forthcoming series of Britain's Got Talent.

It has not been officially announced, but a clip of Barbara Nice doing her trademark finale stage-dive can be seen in the current trailer (see below). The series returns to ITV1 on April 6 at 7.15pm.

It has not been revealed in which episode spoof middle-aged housewife Nice – in reality Janice Connolly from Stockport – performs in front of the judges, but it is no surprise that another comedian is appearing in this new series. In last year's show Lost Voice Guy Lee Ridley was the first comedian to be crowned winner and Robert White and Micky P Kerr were finalists and Noel James made the semi-final. In the previous year Daliso Chaponda made the final. Lorraine Bowen also made a splash on the programme.

Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams return as judges while Ant and Dec are back as hosts as the search for the most exciting talent around gets under way.

All the judges and Ant and Dec will have the chance to put one contestant straight through to the live semi-finals as their Golden Buzzer act, taking them one step closer to achieving their dream of being crowned the BGT winner - securing the prize of £250,000 and the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.

Producers and researchers have been regularly trawling the stand-up circuit for comedy talent in recent years. A number of comedians have been repeatedly approached. Some have turned the programme down, concerned about how their 'storyline' and 'routine' might be edited. Others have decided that the exposure will be good for their careers. It has certainly worked for Lost Voice Guy. It would not be a surprise if Mrs Barbara Nice is not the only familiar name from the comedy world to appear in the 13th series.
