News: Lee Nelson Announces Serious Tour

After a year that has seen him prank Donald Trump, Sepp Blatter and Sir Philip Green, Simon Brodkin, alias Lee Nelson, will embark on his next nationwide tour in 2017 with his brand new stand-up show Serious Joker. The character comedian will kick off the tour on 22nd February, with a further 52 other dates around the country, including a performance at London’s Hackney Empire on 31st March.

2015 saw Brodkin create one of the year’s most iconic images when, as Premier League footballer Jason Bent, he showered FIFA President Sepp Blatter in bank notes at the organisation’s headquarters in Zurich. The incident made the front pages of the Times, Telegraph, Guardian and Independent in the UK, as well as countless headlines around the world. So far this year Brodkin has delivered custom-made swastika-emblazoned golf balls to Donald Trump during a televised press conference and  rechristened Sir Philip Green's £100 million yacht as the “BHS Destroyer.” Previous pranks include gatecrashing X Factor and Kanye West's set at Glastonbury.

On TV Brodkin has written and starred in Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show and Lee Nelson’s Well Funny People on BBC Three. Lee has hosted and twice appeared as a guest on Live at the Apollo (BBC One), and has also performed on shows including Sunday Night at the Palladium (ITV) and The John Bishop Christmas Show (BBC One), as well as releasing a live stand-up DVD. Additional TV credits include Channel 4’s Comedy Gala, Absolutely Fabulous (BBC One), and Children In Need (BBC One). He has taken six solo shows to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where he won the Writer’s Guild Award for Best Newcomer.
